At WSP, our Energy Efficiency Buildings teams, located across the country, bring together professionals of all abilities and backgrounds to meet the needs of our clients. These teams include mechanical, electrical and construction engineers, technicians from various disciplines, planners, refrigeration and building automation professionals, energy modelling experts and building sustainability specialists. We are involved in conducting pre-project assessments and completing construction, expansion and renovation mandates. We work on all types of commercial, institutional and industrial buildings for private and public contracts. We offer comprehensive energy efficiency services including energy and water audits, decarbonization studies, recommissioning (EBCx), energy measurement and verification, commissioning, energy modelling, building certification (LEED, BOMA BEST, WELL, Fitwel, ZCB, etc.), as well as financial subsidies preparation.

Given the growing needs in our sector, we are seeking a person with a curious mind and a keen interest in optimizing mechanical and electrical building systems and energy efficiency and its inherent challenges to fill a position on our team as an Energy Efficiency Analyst, Buildings.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Carry out various activities related to energy efficiency in buildings;
  • Assist in conducting energy and carbon audits (identification of measures, energy accounting, technical and financial analysis) for various types of buildings;
  • Conduct energy analysis and simulations of building design using specialized energy modelling softwares such as IESVE, eQUEST and RETScreen;
  • Conduct energy efficiency monitoring activities;
  • Prepare documents to obtain financial assistance related to energy efficiency;
  • Assist in designing strategies for implementing energy efficiency measures;
  • Draft energy retrofit feasibility reports and concept recommendations for projects;
  • Perform any other related duties deemed relevant to the position.
  • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in energy analysis and green building practices, including local and national energy codes;
  • Work closely with project teams to meet sustainability and energy efficiency goals.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Perform any other related tasks deemed relevant to the position

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or any other training deemed equivalent
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in energy efficiency
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, lighting and building envelope design
  • Initiative and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience in energy modelling (considered an asset)
  • Knowledge of IESVE, eQuest and RETScreen energy modelling softwares (considered an asset)
  • Experience in consulting engineering (considered an asset)
  • CEM, LEED PA, CMVP and accredited recommissioning professional certifications (considered an asset)

 Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $60,000 to 82,600

WSP Canada is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it will pay for this position based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to the specific geographic location.
