Position Description
Reporting to the Lead Project Engineer, the Renewable Energy EIT will be responsible for supporting solar projects in the development and implementation phase.
Location
This position is in-office Tuesday to Thursday, with remote work option for Mondays and Fridays.
Responsibilities:
Project Coordination:
· Coordinate and perform detailed design reviews.
· Support client in tendering, evaluating, and selecting engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors.
· Attend site visits and assist technical subject matter experts while at site.
· Assist the team and client with requests that arise during construction and commissioning.
· Create progress, due diligence and feasibility study reports with input and collaboration from other team members.
Energy Modelling and Design:
· Create and run solar energy models using PVsyst while gaining an understanding of the numerous parameters, assumptions and how they all interact to affect the outcome.
· Perform noise and glare studies.
· Develop and execute performance testing analysis to verify the output of solar facilities during commissioning.
General Industry Participation:
· Lead technical and commercial information gathering for major equipment suppliers; information will then be analyzed and distilled for client recommendations.
· Keep updated on renewable developments in North America and beyond.
· Participate in meetings, site visits, conventions, trade shows and renewable energy industry events across North America may be required. Some international travel may also be required.
Follow and abide by Kilo’s policies and procedures; and any other duties requested by Kilo, acting reasonably.
The responsibilities listed above are subject to change based on the operational requirements, as well as skillset and experience level of the successful candidate.
Experience
· Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering.
· Registration or ability to be registered with APEGA.
· 0-3 years industry experience; with a preference given to those with power generation and/or renewables experience or exposure.
· Experience working in a project environment considered as asset.
· Experience working in an entrepreneurial environment with a small team considered an asset.
· Other equivalent combinations of directly related post-secondary education and directly related experience may be considered.
Qualifications/Skills
· Superior technical communication skills with ability to communicate information to various levels of stakeholders.
· Able to exercise independent judgement and discretion, as well as represent the company with the highest degree of professionalism.
· Self-starter with ability to assess situations and solve problems through structured thinking and analysis.
· Excellent planning and time management skills, with ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Adaptable with action-oriented approach, strong work ethic and high integrity.
· Ability to effectively work within a team, build trust and strong working relationships both in an in-person and virtual work environment.
· Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards within the power industry, preferably within renewable energy, considered an asset.
· Strong capabilities with Microsoft Office 365 is required.
· Competency with AutoCAD or a programming language considered an asset.
Job Requirements
· Valid driver’s license.
· Ability to travel within Canada and internationally, including to the US.
· Ability to occasionally work outside of regular business hours, as per operational requirements.
