JLR has several major building projects under development and is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic co-op student to join its Energy Systems Discipline as an Energy Systems Co-op Student.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Review of technical and product literature.
  • Analyze energy consumption data to better understand where energy is used.
  • Develop models of energy generation or energy consumption using commercial modelling software.
  • Participate in the design of renewable energy or energy reduction projects.
  • Assist other Innovative Energy staff in a range of projects.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Must be working towards a degree in mechanical, electrical, building, or sustainable and renewable energy engineering from an accredited postsecondary institution.
  • Strong skills in data analysis using Excel, database programming, or other tools.
  • Familiarity with renewable and innovative energy technologies (i.e., ground-source or air-source heat pumps, combined heat and power, solar thermal, solar photovoltaic, wind power, electrical energy storage, thermal energy storage, waste heat recovery, biomass heating).
  • Solid understanding of energy conservation measures.
  • Familiarity with commercial energy modeling software packages.
  • Knowledge of TRNSYS simulation software an asset.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license.
