Position Overview

Big-picture thinking is your bread and butter, and you have a knack for the details and organization that bring your ideas to life. You excel when taking the lead, and your top-notch communications skills and charisma rally your team members to bring the best out of everyone. With your passion for engineering, you’d be a great fit as our Pipeline Project Engineer.

In your role, you’ll focus on preparing engineering assessments and feasibility studies, generating estimates, completing detailed design and field engineering activities for capital sustainment and operating projects. You’ll work with a team of engineers, technologists and external consultants on a wide variety of projects to support the operation and improvement of our network of pipelines. 

Your customer-centric approach when partnering with internal and external teams creates trustworthy and fruitful relationships. Operating within processes and procedures is second nature to you, but your drive to innovate keeps you focused on making the structures you operate within better. 

 

In year 1, you will:

  • Apply your expertise and knowledge to projects and maintain compliance with current industry regulations, codes, standards and guidelines.
  • Build a solid understanding of our internal processes, standards, policies and procedures.
  • Develop strong working relationships within the Engineering team and key stakeholders.

In year 2, you will:

  • Develop leadership skills within the department and help improve the performance of the team.
  • Identify and champion continuous improvements to the service provided to key stakeholders.
  • Identify ways to improve efficiencies
  • Mentor junior members of the team
  • Be accountable and improve the performance and timelines of the fast pace work environment for ongoing projects.

What it takes:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution (Civil, Chemical or Mechanical discipline preferred)
  • Four to seven years of experience as an engineer plus registration as a civil, chemical, or mechanical professional engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia
  • Engineering experience related to pipelines is preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities paired with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Advanced technical capabilities and successful mechanical and/or process engineering experience. 
  • PMI certification would be an asset
  • Extensive knowledge of Technical Toolbox, CEPA Calculations and Primavera P6

  • Your will be required to work in office full-time out of our Surrey Operations offices.
