About the Role
As a Real Estate Associate on the Acquisitions team, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and evaluating potential real estate investment opportunities in Canada and the US. We are seeking a talented individual with 2-4 years of relevant experience in real estate acquisitions, who possesses a strong background in deal assessment and underwriting processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough due diligence, financial analysis, and market research to support informed decision-making on potential property acquisitions.
Responsibilities:
- Deal Assessment: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis of potential real estate opportunities in Vancouver, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties.
- Financial Analysis: Perform comprehensive financial modelling and underwriting to assess the viability and profitability of prospective deals, factoring in various scenarios and risk assessments.
- Due Diligence: Coordinate and manage the due diligence process, collecting and analyzing all relevant information and documentation to assess the property's strengths and weaknesses. Asset classes including office, retail, multifamily, industrial, development, mix-used assets in various transaction forms
- Investment Strategies: Collaborate with the Acquisitions team to develop sound investment strategies and present recommendations based on market trends, financial projections, and risk analysis.
- Market Insights: Stay up-to-date with market trends, regulations, and economic factors influencing the real estate industry, and use this knowledge to inform investment decisions.
- Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate investment analyses and recommendations to senior management.
- Grow the Team: Manage and build a team of 2-3 analysts
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent)
- 2-4 years of real estate investment experience from one of the following: private equity, institutional investor, pension fund, investment banking, real estate finance, fund management, or a major lending institution.
- Strong financial modelling skills and proficiency in real estate valuation techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication and presentation skills to convey complex concepts to stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- An interest in using Artificial Intelligence to scale productivity
